How the book is going

My progress on the book is ok but it was nothing like I thought it was gonna be. I never really knew how much goes into a Childress book. All I thought I was gonna do is write a simple story and cut out some pictures but I was wrong. The thought process in every part of the book is crucial. So far I have just written out the story and I am barely picking out the pictures. I never knew how hard it was to come up with a plot and story that is simple enough for kids to read but smart enough that a clear message is conveyed. I’m also struggled with how that message was going to be shown. I was stuck between two story lines that I wanted to go with but I ended going with the simpler version. I thought that it made sense for my book. I also kind of thought a lot about what the characters I chose and what they were gonna do. I picked a rat, a squirrel, and a bird, because I thought it would be easy to find pictures because they can all be found in the same place but that seems to be a struggle for me as well. I’m not really the biggest artist either so I’ll have to figure it out. Overall Though I am really enjoying my time making the book. It’s something I thought I would never do, even if it’s just an assignment.
